District 02 operations manager Craig Brittain said parts of the region remained dry despite recent rain.
"As there has been minimal follow up rain, no decision has been made yet on lifting restrictions in the immediate future in the Local Government areas of the City of Bendigo, Mt Alexander, Central Goldfields or Macedon Ranges," he said.
"Preventing fires is something that every member of the community should see as their responsibility.
"Fire Danger Periods are based on local conditions and take into account fuel moisture, fuel loads, grassland curing, weather and rainfall."
Mr Brittain said burning off was illegal during a fire danger period and property owners and managers are reminded they need to apply for permits if they are planning on carrying out work.
"Fire restrictions remain in force for a very good reason – to prevent fires from starting," he said.
