NEWS/GALLERY: Not just any old drill
VIDEO: Rebuilt team knows the drill
THEY say you would do anything for your children - and several Bendigo parents are proving that is the case.
Father Ian Smyth spent his Saturday cooking up sausages and serving drinks to help his daughter Courtney.
He was one of many parents who volunteered at the Victorian Drill Dance rehearsal and competition this weekend.
Teams travelled form Werribee, Geelong, Mildura and Melton for the senior and under 12 competitions.
Central Victorian team E-J’s Drill Dance Club performed in several events, while their parents spent time outside raising money for the club.
Mr Smyth said while he didn’t get to see his daughter perform, it was great to be involved in the day.
“We’re happy to do it because you’d do anything for your kids,” he said.
“The club holds several fundraising events throughout the year and this is just one way to help get them to the national’s competition.
“These events are great for Bendigo - the schools, the community, the dance group - so it’s good to be involved in an event like this. “
