Police move should make us feel guilty

POLICE have vowed to work days off to help curb the mounting road toll... their decision should make all those who flout road laws feel guilty.

It's a sad situation that the battle to curb the road toll has become so dire that police feel they need to go above and beyond the call of duty to make a difference.

Clearly, if everyone showed commonsense and responsibility on our roads such drastic measures by our police would not be needed.

All police officers who join this campaign should be commended for taking such an approach to curbing the road toll.

No doubt they would prefer to spend their own time with family and friends. But their commitment to reducing the road toll has seen them give up that time to catch people flouting the law.

No sympathy for anyone who gets caught by these dedicated officers.
