Devanny was one of the hot favourites going into the count at the Kangaroo Flat Sports Club and was a comfortable winner, polling 20 votes.

Devanny’s 20 votes were the most in the award since White Hills’ Greg O’Brien polled 20 in 1992.

Huntly-North Epsom all-rounder Sam Johnston finished second with 16 votes.

Golden Square’s three-time winner Scott Johnson rounded out the placings with 13 votes in third position. 

Devanny, 30, stepped up superbly in what was a season where the young Jets were hit hard by the departure of key players.

He scored 472 runs at an average of 39.3 and took 29 wickets at an average of 18.3, placing him among the BDCA leaders in both categories.

His 472 runs included centuries against Kangaroo Flat (128 n.o.) and Golden Square (100).

His best efforts with the ball were 6-61 against Eaglehawk and 5-45 against Strathdale-Maristians.

Devanny - who captained the Jets following the knee injury to Greg Lyon early in the season - polled votes in eight of his 13 games.

Those eight games included five where he was awarded three votes - round 1 v Bendigo, round four v Strathdale, round six v Kangaroo Flat, round 12 v Golden Square and round 13 v Eaglehawk.

Devanny was also the winner of the BDCA Champion player with 782 points and won the Bendigo Advertiser-Bicknells Player of the Year as well.
