Cyclists win top Victorian honours

BENDIGO riders Jack Haig and Isaac Buckell have been honoured for their achievements throughout 2013, taking out Victorian Cyclist of the Year awards.

Haig, who became the youngest overall winner of the National Road Series, was named male road cyclist of the year last Friday.

His efforts included a stirring victory in the Tour of Tasmania and top-four results in the Great South Coast event and National Capital Tour.

Buckell was the junior male rider of the year.

He set a national under-15 individual pursuit record at the Australian junior track titles and won gold in the time trial, silver in the sprint and bronze in the scratch race. He also won the national under-15 criterium on the road.
