When famous diva Jean Horton arrives at Beecham House, old tensions and emotions arise between her and Reginald. With old age creeping up on them, can the four reunite for the sake of the show?
Director of the BTC production, Evalyn Charamlambous said the opening weekend got a great response.
"The audiences were great, laughing all through the jokes," she said.
"I have had Quartet on my to-do list for a long time.
"I like the underlying story of old people being discarded and thought to be not interesting anymore, but still having all the needs and desires behind that."
The comedy, which stars Conor Cunningham, Robin Gray, Ghislaine Achkar and Craig Sheppard, follows a group of retired opera singers prepare for a show at Beecham House where they live.
"It's been taxing. The cast only had nine weeks to get ready and can be very wordy (the script)," Ms Charalambous said.
"They have risen to the challenge very well and watching the characters develop and the natural friendship grow has been lovely to see.
"I have also had some great help from my 17-year-old assistant Shannon Brown. She has done a great job through the whole process with her input and suggestions."
Quartet is on at the BTC Arts Shed at 15-17 Allingham Street, on Friday and Saturday from 8pm and Sunday from 2pm.
