WHEN Jason and Kelly Turley read about Courtney's Quest in the Bendigo Advertiser, they decided to help out.
Courtney's Quest is a campaign organised by Courtney Keast's family and the Bendigo Advertiser to sign up 1532 new organ donors in 30 days.
Courtney died after a boating accident in January and donated her organs to help save four lives.
The campaign will also help raise awareness about organ donation.
The Turleys are also passionate about organ donation and have organised a fundraiser for March 29.
Kelly is diabetic and on the waiting list for a new kidney and pancreas.
"Kelly has been a diabetic most of her life," Jason said.
"She had a kidney failure last year and was put onto dialysis to help clean out her kidneys.
"She has her good days and bad days but the transplant will be like a second start on life."
Kelly and Jason are hoping to join Courtney's Quest and sign up new donors as well as raise awareness.
The fundraiser will raise money for the Organ Donation Foundation which give the funds to people waiting for a transplant to help with accommodation costs.
"Kelly has been doing most of it," Jason said.
"She planned it and we read Courtney's story and decided to help promote it more. We want to strike while the iron is hot and help get 1500 people signed up."
"People don't talk about (organ donation) much or realise how many lives one person's organ's can save."
Courtney's organs helped save four lives.
"You've got to act on it as well as talk about, the more that register, the more chance people have got," Jason said.
Jason and Kelly's fundraising day will be held at North Bendigo Bowls Club on March 29 from 12.30pm.
The day will include a barbecue lunch, an auction, barefoot bowls and other activities.
"It will be a fun day to raise money and awareness," Jason said.
