Sender, who formed in high school in 1995, will farewell the Bendigo music scene with a gig full of both old and recent songs.
The band (pictured right) is made up of Bohdan Dower (lead vocals, guitar), Mick Fitt (bass), Tom Mewett (drums) and James Addlem (guitar, backing vocals).
"Over the years The Vine has been a regular venue for us, it sort of feels like a home away from home," Dower said.
"More than anything this gig will be a casual celebration.
"Hopefully we have time for a drink with everyone who comes.
"People want us to play some really old stuff that we sort of cringe at but we will try and include it."
Dower, who is moving interstate, said he had drifted from the band in the past few years.
"I hadn't made the effort to evolve the band's music and I was keen on exploring some solo stuff," he said.
"That was originally why the band was left but we never officially called it a day.
"We were never sure what was going to happen. We thought we would have to do a comeback."
After being signed to Sony in 2001, the group changed its name from Zenyth to Sender and released a self-titled EP that reached 63 on the ARIA charts.
During that time they toured with bands including Killing Heidi, Hooberstank and Screaming Jets.
"(The label) was a pretty postive experience even though there were misconceptions that Sony ripped us off," Dower said.
"But we were out there touring with different bands and it was a really positive thing. As a band we've been through it all."
The band left the label but continued to release music and perform locally.
But there is little doubt, Sender are leaving the Bendigo music scene better than it was when they started.
"There are a lot of good things happening," he said.
"With the blues festival and all those events, there could be another golden age on its way.
"We have to thank everyone who has ever shown any support or interest. Thanks for listening to our music."
Sender play at the Golden Vine from 8.30pm with support acts Skipper and Sparrow. Entry is $10.
