Nominees can now be under-16 years at the time of nomination.
Junior Sports Star co-ordinator Jim Harvey said the age limit was previously kept at under-14 so as not to encroach on the Bendigo Sportswomen's Award.
Since it folded, money from the Bendigo Sportswomen's Association was forwarded to the Maxine Crouch Trust Fund held as part of the Bendigo Advertiser-WIN TV Sports Star of the Year.
Nominations for Junior Sports Star from the first quarter in 2014 are now being taken and close on March 28.
Each quarterly winner receives a trophy and $200 through the support of Bendigo Bank and long-time backer Coca-Cola.
Nomination details for quarter one can be sent via email to jimharvey4@bigpond.com.au or 29 Havlin Street, Bendigo.
