THE Bendigo Bank Spirit were the guests of honour at Victorian Parliament on Thursday as their WNBL championship celebrations continued.
Spirit players were invited to Spring Street for lunch at Parliament House with Victorian Minister for Sport and Recreation-elect Damian Drum and Hugh Delahunty, who Drum will take over the sport portfolio from on Monday.
Also joining the championship lunch were Bendigo MPs Jacinta Allan and Maree Edwards.
"It was nice to be recognised by the government and it was certainly a great day," Spirit coach Bernie Harrower said.
"The Victorian government has been great supporters of ours over the years, so it's great we have been able to pay them back with a couple of grand final wins over the past two years."
The Spirit defeated Townsville 94-83 at the Bendigo Stadium last Sunday to capture their second WNBL championship in a row.
The Spirit will hold their presentation night on Friday at the Foundry Hotel Complex.
