CFA keeps Wendy on her toes

VOLUNTEERING keeps Wendy Cook very busy but she would not have it any other way.

The Spring Gully resident is a member of the CFA.

She divides her time between the community education group and the emergency response brigade.

"Oscar 1, the emergency response brigade, is a new part of the CFA," she said.

"It involves above and below ground rescue.

"They needed the help and I was able to give it to them."

Ms Cook said she had learnt a lot through the community education group.

"It is really fun," she said.

"I find it personally rewarding as well.

"It is a diverse group of volunteers."

Ms Cook said she was also part of scouts for 30 years, teaching people to be valuable members of the community.

She said she would encourage others to volunteer.

"You get more out of it than you think," she said.

"It's fabulous.

"It is very rewarding and satisfying to help others, and those who need help."

Ms Cook said she had made many friends through her volunteer work.

"It really is worthwhile," she said.
