Mile draws top stables to BJC's Nursery

THIS Saturday's running of the Yalumba Golden Mile race day continues Bendigo's run of major sporting events in recent weeks.

Since it began two years ago the Golden Mile has gone from strength to strength.

What is the richest race day on the country gallops circuit draws many of the state's top stables and jockeys.

There's more than $1 million in stakes  to be won as well as the prestige of winning at the "Nursery of Champions".

The metropolitan-class meeting also has Bendigo stables such as Symons, Fleidner, Browell and more chasing home-track glory.

The Symons-trained Jarklin will carry high hopes in the  $280,000 VOBIS Gold Rush (1000m).

Rod Symons has a great strike-rate at Bendigo, particularly on Cup day.

Add fashions on the field and off-track entertainment and it's a great day for racegoers.

The Golden Mile race day is an event all associated at the Bendigo Jockey Club can be mighty proud about.

The BJC's forward thinking and bold approach in recent years has led to the Jayco Bendigo Cup now being a Melbourne Cup qualifier.

Add sunny skies and the BJC is set for a bumper Golden Mile race day.
