THROW away the ties and the jackets, this Saturday's Yalumba Golden Mile Raceday is all about "Relaxed Racing".
The Bendigo Jockey Club launched the feature meeting yesterday, encouraging racegoers to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere on Saturday.
"The Bendigo Cup carnival in the spring is all about dressing up in your suit and tie,'' BJC chief executive Ian Hart said.
"In the autumn, the Yalumba Golden Mile meeting is about having fun and relaxing at the races.
"We encourage racegoers to bring a picnic rug, relax on the lawn and enjoy the races and entertainment."
The club has a kids zone with a range of games and activities and a band will perform on the lawn.
Bendigo's Alana Conway will sing Fields of Gold prior to the running of the Yalumba Golden Mile. One lucky racegoer will win a gold bracelet thanks to Cattanach Jewellers.
On the track, more than $1million in prizemoney is up for grabs in the most lucrative meeting on the BJC calendar.
Some dining packages are still available in Silks. Ticket prices for Saturday's meeting. Adults $20, concession $15 and children under-16 free when accompanied by an adult.
