Jordan wins Kitt memorial

BENDIGO Harriers president Geoff Jordan achieved a 13-second personal best as he won Saturday night's Richard Kitt Memorial 1500m at the Bendigo International Madison carnival.

Runner-up in the 1500m classic a year earlier, Jordan raced off the 28-second mark and won the Flack Advisory-sponsored race in a time of 5:24.9.

He won the Flack Advisory distance series final at the track nine days earlier.

In his latest hit-out at the Tom Flood Sports Centre, Jordan led at the bell and by the WIN TV scoreboard was well clear.

He went on to win ahead of South Bendigo's Neil Le Nepveu and Harriers' Eric Baker.

Fastest time honours went to Harriers' Brady Threlfall, racing off 2.01, in 4:01.3.

Jordan praised the work of coaches John Burke, Brett Gilligan and Neil Macdonald, and long-time athletics sponsor and competitor George Flack.

"Winning this race means a lot. It's a great atmosphere here and athletics can be for all ages and abilities," the accountant said.
