Wynona's mother Maria was worried her 16-year-old daughter would be teased by others students at school if she shaved her hair.
"Some people can be really cruel," Ms Sheldon said.
"I didn't want her to get bullied or anything like that."
Wynona said she complied a list of reasons why she should be allowed to take part in the fund-raiser and emailed them to her mother.
"I wanted to shave my head anyway and thought I could raise some money as well," she said.
"It will grow back anyway and it's all for a good cause."
Ms Sheldon said she was impressed by the email and how passionate Wynona was about taking part in the fund-raiser.
"I could see where she was coming from," she said.
"She was very passionate about it and she really wants to help raise money."
Wynona said she aimed to raise about $100 for the cause.
She said she would shave her hair on March 16 at the Strath Village Shopping Centre.
