BENDIGO'S Sam Crome and Dutch ace Roy Pieters were the giant-slayers in Sunday night's Bendigo International Madison track cycling classic.

Crome, 20, and Pieters, 24, lapped the field at 37 laps to go and withstood spirited attacks to regain a lap and win the McCaig Airconditioning Daikin-backed race.

A star-studded field for the 200-lap duel included triple world champions Glenn O'Shea and Alex Edmondson joining forces against the 2012 winners, Christian Grassman and Leif Lampater from Germany.
