The task force, in collaboration with Bendigo Police, arrested Paul Denton, 43, at a Golden Square address.
Sergeant Steve Rainey from Bendigo Police said Denton would return to prison.
"He's been on the run for a number of months now in relation to parole violations," he said.
"As a result of information we've arrested him and effectively returned him to jail.
"He does not go to court.
"He goes straight back to jail for a breach of parole.
"He has 18 months still to serve of his sentence which now he has to complete due to his parole violations."
Sergeant Rainey said Denton's sentence was in relation to burglary and dishonesty matters.
"I understand he's from Bendigo so that's why he's back in Bendigo, he has ties to Bendigo," he said.
"We've been looking for him for a couple of months, probably before Christmas it started.
"He's been pretty evasive and been to different addresses during that course.
"We'd been looking for him spasmodically at different times and we had some new information that led us to an address this morning.
We'd been looking for him spasmodically at different times.
- Sergeant Steve Rainey
"It was good to finally get him."
Sergeant Rainey said the Fugitive Task Force was based in Melbourne and had traveled to Bendigo on Friday.
"We had a crew from the Fugitive Task Force and a crew from here so we had eight members," he said.
"They're a statewide resource."
