People have taken to Facebook to spread their frustration about the lack of rain.
While a flash of rain hit Maiden Gully and Mandurang earlier tonight, people in Dunolly, Bendigo, Kennington, Strathdale and Eaglehawk have reported very little or no rain at all.
However residents say there has been a lot of thunder throughout the region.
The Bureau of Meteorology says severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding over the next several hours.
Locations which may be affected include Bendigo, Shepparton, Seymour, Maryborough and Kyneton.
The next warning is due to be issued by 9:50 pm.
EARLIER: The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe storm warning for Bendigo.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rain that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area in coming hours.
Locations which may be affected include Mildura, Swan Hill, Bendigo, Echuca, Kerang and Castlemaine.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Keep away from creeks and drains.
* Do not drive vehicles through flooded areas.
* Stay indoors if possible.
* Avoid using the phone during the storm.
* If you are outside, avoid sheltering under trees
* Listen to the radio for storm updates
* Switch off your computer and electrical appliances
The next warning is due to be issued by 7.40pm.
