The project is an initiative of Caritas Australia and is hosted each year during Lent.
Co-ordinator for North-North Eastern Victoria Kerry Stone said the aim of the event was to raise awareness of the organisation and what it does for overseas aid.
"The aim of the event is to the message out about Caritas Australia, so people take a brochure and really think about donation," she said.
"The message is Caritas Australia is working in partnership with people in Brazil, South Sudan, Philippines, Solomon Islands, Australia and Sri Lanka to help people help themselves out of poverty."
Catholic College Bendigo year 9 students Brody McDowell and Mia McConnachie handed out pancakes and collected donations.
Brody said Caritas Australia was an organisation that helped provide third-world countries with security, new schools and other necessities.
Mia said through Caritas Australia, she was able to help countries overseas.
"This is our way of helping people overseas," she said.
"Through raising awareness and money we can help make their lives better."
