She didn’t have long to wait.
The next day an email from IGA said she was a winner in the supermarket’s national Summer Fun competition.
Her win - one of five IGA supermarket travel vouchers worth $10,000 won across Australia - was later confirmed. But Ms Manton said she didn’t believe it until she held the tickets in her hand.
“It was surreal,” she said.
“For me it’s like winning a million dollars.”
The voucher gives her travel and accommodation worth $10,000 anywhere in the world.
Ms Manton filled out the competition form at IGA Strathfieldsaye where she said she likes to shop because it is well set-up, clean and friendly.
She said she was thankful to IGA for the voucher.
“I think it’s good that IGA runs competitions like this that give ordinary people like me the chance to win something and enjoy a good holiday without worrying about the financial aspect,” she said.
Ms Manton is planning to use her win to go overseas for the first time and see her son Anthony in Dubai and daughter Emma in London.
