A CARD of thanks was slipped under the door of the Golden Square Fire Brigade this week - a gesture which brigade captain Paul Davis thinks is marvellous.
The card, dropped off anonymously, contains heartwarming thank you messages from members of the community.
Some of the messages include, 'thank you heaps for all you do to protect our families, God bless - Crystal, Chantel and Jason' and 'thank you all and keep safe - Pauline'.
Brigade captain Paul Davis said the card was a touching gesture.
"It is a beautiful gesture from members of the community," he said.
"It is marvellous."
Mr Davis said the brigade had about 70 members and all were volunteers.
He said National Red Balloon Day was a fantastic initiative.
"We have had Blue Ribbon Day for a long time and we have had other sorts of days," he said.
"But it's nice to see the firefighters recognised for the work they do."
