PERFORMING arts delegates from across the state yesterday toured Bendigo's theatre redevelopment site with "envy and awe".

The tour was part of an annual conference for technical managers, who meet at various places across Victoria.
The Capital manager David Lloyd said the first thing that struck the visitors was the reactivation of the historic gaol.
"There was a lot of envy and awe," he said.
"Bringing the old with the new always impresses people because it's very hard to do right.
"They were also very impressed by the size of the stage - the biggest stage in the state outside of Melbourne - and they noted all the little things we got right, which is so often a challenge for these kinds of projects."
Mr Lloyd said development would progress rapidly now the foundations were in place.
"On Tuesday we will start to erect the flytower, which is the single largest part of the building rising 26-metres up in the air," he said.
"We are progressing well for our completion date towards the end of this year."
