The 19-year-old was transferred from Bendigo Health to The Alfred hospital in a critical but stable condition on February 15.
Police believe a Toyota ute was travelling north on Eaglehawk Road just before 1am when the male driver and sole occupant turned left into Jackson Street and lost control.
The car is believed to have struck a median strip and crashed into a metal fence, which went through the front of the car and impaled the driver.
The 19-year-old was taken to Bendigo Health with life threatening injuries before being transferred to The Alfred.
