Her mother, Val Tieman, 88, began the show 23 years ago.
Mrs Truant’s husband Mario, daughters Lucy and Jacinda and Amara Biggs also help set up the show each year.
Mrs Truant still has her teddy from babyhood. “It’s very dilapidated – it’s got no hair left on it because I used to brush it,” she said.
“I just love bears and dolls and miniatures.”
This year more than 100 antique, modern and miniature dolls and teddy bears from across Victoria will be on show today at the Kangaroo Flat Leisure Centre.
There's also an "apron challenge," with the best-made apron judged by the public, and a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party display to fit the 'Alice in Wonderland' theme.
The Doll and Teddy Show is on today from 9.30am to 4pm. Proceeds go to the Palliative Care Auxiliary.
