The fundraising efforts will culminate with a major auction at the Exchange on Friday night, and it's hoped the community will respond with gusto.
Committee spokesman Michael McKern said the ''community had responded better than we would have expected''.
"But we still need a little bit more to reach our target, so we are looking at a big turnout at the Exchange,'' he said.
The main auction will include:
