After winning the toss and bowling at Princes Park, the BDCA had Sale in trouble at 3-15, 4-26 and 6-79.
However, a spectacular 109-run stand between Jon Cheer and Matt Dowsett turned the game Sale's way.
Dowsett smashed 78 of the 109 runs, his innings coming off just 42 balls. He hit seven sixes and three fours.
Cheer batted superbly, finishing unbeaten on 126 off 146 balls, including 13 fours and one six.
Adam Burns was clearly the pick of Bendigo's bowlers.
He bowled his 10 overs straight, collecting 2-15, including five maidens.
Ben DeAraugo took two early wickets before finishing with the figures of 2-54 off 10 overs.
Sam Johnston claimed 2-52 off 10 overs, while Brent Hamblin took 1-64 off his 10 overs.
Leg-spinner Cam Taylor (1-54 off seven overs) copped the brunt of the big hitting.
Bendigo must win to have any chance of making the grand final at the MCG on Friday.
Bendigo made two changes to the side which lost to Murray Valley on Monday.
Aaron Monro and Isaac Conway came in for Rhys Irwin and Anthony West.
