Expressions of interest for Castlemaine’s Theatre Royal will close on March 12.
Agent Brett Fitzpatrick from Castlemaine Property Group said there had been a lot of interest in the property, which has been operating since 1854.
“There has been quite a healthy interest,” he said.
“It is an interesting concept with four or five components.
“On the film side, it has been recently updated to digital.”
The property has been on the market on and off over a period of three years. Most recently it was put back on the market in January.
Owner David Stretch said he is ready for the next challenge.
“We are in our tenth year here and we feel we have developed the business part to be a saleable commodity,” he said.
“It is a really vibrant, dynamic business and a social hub in the town.
“Anything more than five years and I like a new challenge.”
