Wireless NBN starts to roll out

CONSTRUCTION of the National Broadband Network will start soon in a number of outlying areas of Bendigo.

Redesdale and Mia Mia are among the next list of regions to receive fixed wireless roll-out connections.

A NBN Co spokeswoman said it would be about 12 months before residents in those areas would be able to order NBN retail services.

NBN support group iBendigo said they were still in the dark about when Bendigo would be connected.

Chair Margaret O'Rourke said she was awaiting answers from the NBN Co about the timeframe, and whether the recent strategic review affected progress.

“We would just like to understand where things are at," she said. "We're hopeful it will be the same timeline as initially announced."

A NBN Co spokesman said they will submit its Corporate Plan by mid-2014 and the plan will have an update on the roll-out timeframe across Australia.
