Two males entered a home in Drechsler Street about 9pm on Saturday with a long-armed firearm demanding money.
No one was injured but money was stolen.
Crime Investigation Unit Senior Constable Grace Macloy said police were investigating the incident.
"The victim is OK, it was a bit of a shock to the system as you can imagine," she said.
Police are still putting together a description of the men.

POLICE are investigating an armed robbery in Flora Hill.
Two males entered a home in Drechsler Street about 9pm on Saturday with a long-armed firearm demanding money.
No one was injured but money was stolen.
Police are also appealing to the public for information about two garage burglaries in Rosalind Street, Bendigo, on Friday night.
Two male offenders, in their late teens or early 20s, were last seen running towards View Street.
There was also a garage burglary in Neale Street, Kennington at the weekend.
Police say a large number of items were stolen.
