Residents who have experienced significant damage to their homes or a loss of income or livelihood as a result of recent fires may be eligible for assistance with paying their rates.
Affected residents can apply to have their current rates payment, due on 28 February , deferred until their next instalment date, 31 May. No interest will be charged.
Where a house has been destroyed by fire or significantly damaged so that it is no longer habitable, Macedon Ranges Shire will amend the current property valuation so that it reflects the property’s land value only.
The property’s current rates amount will then be recalculated.
To apply for a rates payment deferral, go to mrsc.vic.gov.au/rates; to request your property value be reviewed due to damage, call 5422 0333.
