Greyhounds in night-time slot at Lord's

THE Bendigo greyhound meeting will be run in a rare night-time slot on Friday at Lord's Raceway in Junortoun.

First of 12 races is at 6.50pm.

Four semi finals of the rich VBIS Maiden Series highlight the strong card of greyhound racing action as well as a quality staying event over 660m.

Fastest maiden heat winner from last weekend, Rose Lilly looks set to start favourite punters off on a bright note after drawing box one in the opening event.

Rose Lilly showed brilliant speed to register an effortless four-and-a-half length victory in a slick 23.87 from box six.

Major threat is likely to be Code Breaker who clocked a fast first split time of 6.48 but was run down in the straight to go under by one and a half lengths in 23.90.

Littermate to Rose Lilly, Papa Hook defeated Code Breaker in his heat and is the runner to beat in the second semi-final.

Papa Hook must handle the transition from box one to box four.

Semi final number three is at the mercy of Banged Up Bill after he was dominant in a seven length 23.91 heat win from box five.

The fourth and final semi-final is wide open.

Top contenders include heat winner Vintage Warrior from box one, strong victor Jindara in box five and Mumma Hook, who was beaten but not disgraced on debut and likely to improve from box eight.
