WEATHER
Another scorching Summer day with a top of 39 degrees. Light winds becoming east to northeasterly 15 to 20 km/h in the evening then tending east to southeasterly in the late evening.
Today is not currently a Total Fire Ban day.
Fire update
All fires across the state have been downgraded to ‘watch and act’ and ‘advice’, including the Mickleham/Kilmore fire.
So far, 34 houses in Victoria have been destroyed and another 20 damaged.
There are now 18 fires burning across the state and the CFA says residents in those areas should still remain alert.
Closer to home, a small grass fire has broken out at a pine plantation in Barkers Creek, near Castlemaine.
The fire is still going and an 'advice' warning has been issued by the CFA to nearby residents.
A CFA spokeswoman said there were nine CFA units currently attending the fire, with seven more on the way.
She said no homes were under threat, but nearby residents might see or smell smoke.
She said the CFA had not determined how the fire started.
She said no roads had been closed at this stage.

Toyota fallout
Premier Denis Napthine flew to Canberra yesterday to ask Prime Minister Tony Abbott for help after Toyota’s announcement it will stop manufacturing in Australia at the end of 2017.
The move could cost up to 45,000 jobs, most of them in Victoria.

The Bendigo service to Southern Cross is operating as a coach due to damage to the tracks from the fires.
