People displaced by the Mickleham Road fire can access help at a relief centre set up at the Gisborne Community Centre.
The fire is affecting Darraweit Guim, Romsey, Springfield, Goldie and other areas.
Macedon Ranges Shire Council said affected community members could come to the relief centre for support and information, such as catering, material needs, emergency shelter, temporary accommodation and counselling.
Council is also identifying possible locations for recovery centres in the shire, and will be exploring longer term recovery needs and issues at three community meetings this afternoon in Riddells Creek and Gisborne.
The meetings will be attended by emergency services agencies including the CFA, Victoria Police and Macedon Ranges Shire Council, and will be held at 2pm and 6pm at the Riddells Creek Leisure Centre, and at 7.30pm at the Gisborne Mechanics Institute Hall on Hamilton Street.
Emergency services agencies will provide an update on the fire situation in the region, and council will seek feedback from the community on what support they need to assist with their recovery.
“Council will be focusing on recovery efforts now, and working with communities affected as closely as we can to get things back to normal,” mayor Roger Jukes said.
“We’d like to thank all our volunteers as well as the broader community for their support during this difficult time, particularly those who provided food and other assistance at our relief centre yesterday,” he said.
Emergency relief centres offer temporary shelter for people without a place to stay during an emergency.
Wherever possible, people should stay with family and friends so long as it is safe to do so. If practicable, anyone seeking emergency shelter at the relief centre should bring items necessary for their health and well-being.
Anyone requiring assistance in recovering from the effects of the fires can call council’s municipal recovery manager on 0458 406 400.
