WEATHER
A sunny day with a predicted high of 31 degrees; much more tolerable than yesterday.
Winds south to southeasterly 15 to 25 km/h.
Also extreme UV index for most of the day. Remember to slip, slop, slap if you're out under the hole in the ozone layer.
The CFA has not declared today a Total Fire Ban Day.
Fire update
Fires continue to blaze across the state.
It is likely that up to 20 homes were destroyed overnight in the Kilmore area.
Firefighters and emergency services will assess damage and focus on controlling out-of-control fires at Mickleham, Kilmore, Goongerah and Morwell, which, by 6am, were burning at 10,000 hectares.
Closer to home, the Long Gully fire is controlled, the Gisborne fire on Dalrymple Road has been contained and the Riddles Creek fire is controlled.
There is a small grass fire on Panorama Drive in Gisborne. We will bring you more information on this soon.
Schapelle watch
Schapelle Corby will walk out of Kerobokan Jail today.
Under her parole conditions, Corby will not be able to return to her Gold Coast home until July 2017. If she had stayed in prison she could have been entirely free and ready to return to Australia almost two years earlier — August 2015.
She will live with her sister Mercedes.
TRAINS
The Bendigo service is operating as a coach from Southern Cross Station to Bendigo and a train service between Gisborne and Bendigo, due to CFA request.
Check the V/Line website for more information.
