With the mercury hitting over 40 degrees people could have been forgiven for getting their goods another day.
But Golden Square CFA communications officer and farmers market committee member Chris Corr said people just came earlier.
“With the Scots Day Out and the library opening, the town is very busy,” he said.
“We were up at 10am with 300 patrons in the market. Over 1,000 people generally come through.
“This is the main fundraiser for the CFA in Golden Square. We help set up and pack up and in return they let us rattle the tins.”
Stall holder Katie Finlay said it had been busy.
“I didn’t even have time for a coffee," she said.
“I adjust how much I bring when it’s hot and I don't bring anything that won’t travel. But it is generally fine as there is shade.
“It is a great market and is well supported.”
