The schools use the event to raise money.
St Kilian's Primary School parents Brock Pinner, Mark Butler and John Marini, pictured, were among the volunteers who helped.
The school was responsible for cooking the barbecue, with the three men donning aprons and getting their hands greasy.
Mr Marini said he only too happy to help.
"We are doing it for the kids," Mr Marini said.
"It's only an hour or so that we need to help - it's very easy."
Mr Marini said there were not as many people at the races compared with last year, but it was still busy.
