A total fire ban has been declared for the state for the weekend with extreme weather predicted.
Parks Victoria and the Department of Environment and Primary Industries are asking race attendees to monitor conditions and stay informed.
“Very hot temperatures and strong winds are expected over the weekend with tops of 40 degrees and higher for parts of the state Saturday and strong winds continuing Sunday,” DEPI Loddon Mallee land and fire manager Scott Falconer said.
“People enjoying the Southern 80 should be aware of the hot conditions and the total fire ban which means no fires can be lit or be allowed to remain alight in open air."
