A forecast of 40 degress for Saturday has led to the change by the AB executive.
Friday's meeting will start at 6pm at the La Trobe University Bendigo athletics complex in Retreat Road, Flora Hill.
Track events include hurdles, 100m, walk, 400m, 1500m and the 4 x 100m relay.
Steeplechase will depend on entry numbers.
Several field events will be contested at this Shield meet.
