The consistent stayer heads a final field of eight for the Cup, which will be run at 1.20pm.
The seven-race card was originally scheduled as a twilight meeting, but it has been bought forward because of Saturday's forecast of 40 degrees.
The first of seven races on Saturday is at 11.40am, with the final event at 3.05pm.
Gates open at 10.30am, children's entertainment starts from 11am.
Angelology's biggest threats on Saturday will be city winner Bono Vox for leading trainer David Hayes and Alfiler, which has won three races this campaign for Tom Hughes.
The most intriguing race of the day is the Bishop Joe Grech Memorial 2YO Maiden (900m).
The race has attracted first starters from the Hayes, Anthony Freedman, Leon Corstens and Shane Fliedner stables.
The Marong Cup is one of the most popular race meetings on the BJC calendar.
The annual event is a fundraiser for Catholic primary schools in Bendigo.
