Chosen by Rugby Union club the Melbourne Rebels, the Bendigo Fighting Minors Rugby Club were selected from clubs from across the state to put on the inaugural tournament.
The event, to be held at the Epsom Huntly Reserve, has already attracted a high quality field.
Premier division clubs, Harlequins, Melbourne University and Footscray have a;ready entered teams.
Shepparton, Mildura, Puckapunyal, Geelong and Ballarat have also entered teams.
Rugby 7s is an abbreviated form of rugby.
It is played on a full sized field with teams of seven players.
Preliminary round matches are played over two seven minute halves while the final is played over two 10 minute halves.
Rugby 7s is growing in popularity with the sport included in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
The Goldfields 7s tournament will be held on February 22.
