Trio eye PGA crown

BENDIGO golfers Andrew Martin, Kris Mueck and Lucas Herbert will be keen to get off to a flying start when they tee off in Thursday's opening round of the Victorian PGA Championship.

The $110,000 event will be played at the Heritage Golf and Country Club.

Martin and Herbert have early tee-times at 8.06am and 8.39am respectively.

Mueck starts on the 10th tee at 1.47pm.

Herbert has happy memories of the Heritage Golf and Country Club.

The star amateur played in his first professional tournament at the course 12 months ago, finishing runner-up in a play-off.

Martin is in good form having finished third in last week's first stage of the Asian PGA Tour qualifying school.

Mueck had some encouraging results in 2013 and at his best is more than capable of being in contention for the title on Sunday.
