Victorian Minister for Energy Resources Nick Kotsiras has asked Cr Cox be reinstated to the position after being sacked last week.
"The minister has put out a statement and let me know two things - I've been reinstated as the chair of the Kangaroo Flat Mine Environmental Review Committee and there will be review of all Environmental Review Committees through the state,'' Cr Cox said.
"Hopefully, something good can come from that.
"All community committees should have very strong terms of references so it is very clear for everyone participating in that process.
"I am looking forward to working with the community representatives, authorities and Unity Mining to get the best outcome for Bendigo.
"We have our next meeting in March and I am looking forward to it."
Mr Kotsiras has asked the Department of State Development, Business and Innovation to review all Environmental Review Committees.
"While most ERCs operate effectively, there is, in my opinion, a need to review the establishment and operation of these committees to ensure they are effective forums for industry and the local community," Mr Kotsiras said.
"It is important that where differences of opinion in regards to the running ERCs occur, there are clear processes to deal with them."
The review will be completed by Friday, May 9.
