FULL STORY: HOMES in Lyal, Myrtle Creek, Pilchers Bridge and Redesdale were threatened last night after a fire broke out in the area.
More than 25 tankers and two aircraft were called to Old Ford Road, Redesdale, about 7.30pm with an emergency warning issued for the area.
The blaze moved in a north-westerly direction from Newnhams Lane towards Myrtle Creek.
Crews managed to contain the blaze about 9.20pm and the emergency warning was downgraded to an advice message.
A Country Fire Authority media spokesman said the fire destroyed about 160 hectares of grassland.
