Jack Lyons will take on Maree Edwards if endosed, after being the only person to nominate for state Liberal preselection in Bendigo West.
Greg Bickley looks set to take on Labor's Jacinta Allan for the Bendigo East seat.
Several other Liberal members considered running in both seats, but pulled out at the last minute.
The process will now go to the "one applicant procedure", with the candidates expected to be endorsed within 14 to 21 days.
Mr Lyons, 41, is the son of Bendigo mayor Barry Lyons. He was born in Lancefield and moved to Bendigo at age nine.
“I just believe Bendigo West needs some strong representation,” he said earlier this year.
“I’m passionate about Bendigo West and the surrounding region."
Mr Bickley said preselection rules precluded him from making any further comment.
The preselection process for both seats is likely to finish late March or early April, ahead of the November 29 election.
Ms Edwards, who had a 7.64 swing against her party in the 2010 election, said she had a strong track record in Bendigo.
“I’ll continue to work until the election being the representative for Bendigo West," she said.
Sitting Bendigo East member Jacinta Allan will also again run.
Labor has held Bendigo West for all but one term since 1985, while Ms Allan has held her seat since 1999.
The pair said they were honoured to have the opportunity to continue to serve the central Victorian community.
