The Kyneton members pulled over a vehicle towing machinery on the Kyneton-Trentham Road at about 3.30am.
They got out of their vehicle and approached the vehicle, which sped off.
The officers returned to their vehicle, and the four-wheel-drive spun around and hit their car.
Both male officers received non-life threatening injuries and were taken to hospital.
Sergeant Peter Johnston told radio station 3AW the officers received neck injuries, cuts and bruises.
"The offending land cruiser conducted a U-turn, and intentionally ran the police vehicle ... off the road,’’ Sergeant Johnston said.
"As a result of that, police members have received neck injures and cuts and bruising, but not of life-threatening nature.’’
Police are looking for a 2002 silver Toyota Landcruiser driven by a man.
They do not yet have a description of the man.
