The 196cm centre will play for the Braves after spending the past two seasons with the WNBL’s Canberra Capitals.
Bunton is posting career highs this season.
Shooting nine points and making seven rebounds per game.
Lady Braves coach Johnathan Goodman said he was extremely excited about the signing, saying Bunton was one of Australia’s most exciting young prospects.
He said he was looking forward to Bunton having an immediate impact on the group.
“Alex is one of the most promising young bigs in all of Australia,” Goodman told the Bendigo Advertiser.
“I have known of Alex since she was in the under-16s.
“She is a state and national representative and we are thrilled to have obtained her services.”
A Canberra native, Bunton said she was excited about taking the next step in her career in Bendigo.
“I’m very happy to have the opportunity to play with the Lady Braves,” Bunton said.
“They’ve had a lot of success in the past and I’m looking forward to having the chance to contribute to the group.
“I’ve heard really good things about Bendigo as a basketball town and I’m looking forward to having a positive impact both on and off the court.”
The 20-year-old spent the last SEABL season with the Canberra Capitals Academy, where she led the team in scoring and rebounding.
She has also spent three seasons at the Australian Institute of Sport.
Bunton will join the Lady Braves at the end of the WNBL season.
The Lady Braves open their 2014 account on March 22 when they come up against Brisbane at Bendigo Stadium.
