DYLAN, Cooper and Skylar Rooney will make history when they start school at Kangaroo Flat Primary School this week.
The triplets are believed to be the first set in the history of the school to attend.
Assistant principal Kim Saddlier said the records only dated back 25 years but she was fairly confident the school had never had triplets.
"It is really exciting," she said.
"It is something new - we don't believe we have ever had triplets before."
Parent Michelle Rooney said the triplets were the youngest of seven children.
She said it would be busy on school mornings this year but as she was organised.
"The key is to be organised," she said.
"It will be the first time in 21 years that no kids will be home during a school day.
"I think the first week I will be glad they are at school, I'll be trying to get over the school holidays.
"After a few weeks I will be sad.
"My babies will all be at school."
Ms Rooney said the triplets had new school uniforms and backpacks.
She said usually it was she did the school run but Thursday would be an exception.
"I think we will both do it," she said.
"It will be a special occasion, the last lot to be dropped off."
The triplets said they were looking forward to making new friends, reading books and enjoying everything the school had to offer.
"I am looking forward to sport and music," said Cooper.
Ms Saddlier said about 44 preps would start at the school this year.
She said the students would be divided into four composite classes.
"The preps will start on Thursday but the times they come in will be staggered," she said.
"This will allow teachers the chance to meet the students and their parents properly."
