Bureau of Meterology duty forecaster Terry Ryan said Bendigo received a mere 1.2 millimetres of rain up to and after 9am Friday.
He said light rain was often worse for road conditions than heavy rain.
“Heavy rain will wash the oil off the road but that light rainfall makes the road extremely slippery,” he said.
Areas around Bendigo had a few drops more – Dunolly had 3.4mm, Elmore 3.6, and Rochester, Kerang and Sidonia all had 2.2mm.
Bendigo is having a dry January: only 2.6mm has fallen this month. The January average is 33mm.
The February-April outlook for Bendigo is for slightly below average rainfall.
