Diane and Paull Gordon-Cooke's son Blake was just 19-months-old when he passed away in September last year.
Blake had Down Syndrome but appeared to be healthy until, at 13 months, he developed a chesty cough.
Tests revealed Blake had two holes in his heart, secondary pulmonary hypertension and a mystery, still undiagnosed, rare interstitial lung disease.
Blake would have celebrated his second birthday on February 4.
Instead, a song written in honour of his short life will be released on iTunes with money raised donated to HeartKids Victoria.
The track Let Your Angel Fly was written and recorded by Melbourne musician John Trager who was touched by Blake's story.
"He wrote the song about Blake having never met him or us," Mrs Gordon-Cooke said.
"It's quite incredible.
"He was told about Blake's journey, looked things up and followed Blake's journey on Facebook.
"The song was actually played as a surprise to us, we knew absolutely nothing about the song, at Blake's celebration of life.
"There was not a dry eye in the crowd."
The song was later recorded with money from its upcoming release to go to HeartKids.
Let Your Angel Fly will be released next week.
"Other than the fee that iTunes take, all the funds will go directly to HeartKids in Blake's honour which will help lots and lots of children and families," Mrs Gordon-Cooke said.
"The other thing that's just happened as well is we're also producing 1000 CDs to be sold because not everyone likes to do the iTunes thing.
"The production of the CDs, to actually get them burnt and in their sleeves and everything - has all come from donations from people who follow Blake's page.
"It's just incredible."
Mrs Gordon-Cooke said she missed her son every single day.
"I hate Fridays because we lost Blake on Friday the 13th of all days," she said.
"He was a very special little boy."
Mrs Gordon-Cooke said her son's story had touched
