"3400 houses were affected earlier," he said.
"The cross arm on the pole is currently being replaced."
UPDATE 11.45AM: Police are attending to a two car collision in Ironbark, paramedics have been requested.
The collision occurred about 11.35AM at the intersection of Honeysuckle and Marong Road, police say.
Acting Senior Sergeant Della Nihill said the crash scenes at Napier Street in White Hills, Don and Barnard Street in Ironbark, and Lockwood Road and High Street in Kangaroo Flat had been cleared.
Traffic lights remain out across Bendigo.
UPDATE 11AM: Police are urging drivers to take care on wet roads after eight cars have been involved in collisions since traffic lights went out across Bendigo about 9.30AM.
Highway Patrol Acting Senior Sergeant Della Nihill said police were on the scene at a two car crash at the intersection of Don and Barnard Street in Ironbark which happened about 10.45am.
Paramedics are attending to two elderly patients.
Police are also attending to a four car collision on Napier Street in White Hills.
Paramedics have been requested.
There are no serious injuries reported at this stage.
Acting Senior Sergeant Nihill said police were on the way to a third collision at Lockwood Road and High Street in Kangaroo Flat.
Police say traffic lights are still out across Bendigo and are coordinating traffic until power is turned back on.

BENDIGO police are urging motorists to stay clear of intersections where traffic lights are not working.

FIREFIGHTERS are at Chum Street in Golden Square, where CFA were called to a pole fire about 9.30am.
Bendigo senior station officer Roy Griffiths said traffic lights were out across Bendigo due to the pole fire.
“Powercor may have had to turn off the power which would be why the traffic lights are out,” he said.

POLICE have blocked off Chum Street near Fortuna Villa.

POLICE say traffic lights are out across Bendigo.
Sergeant Kellie Pickering said traffic lights were not working at the intersections of Barnard Street and View Street, MacKenzie Street and Bay Street, and Don Street and Eaglehawk Road.
